My name is Nicole, and I never imagined I would be sharing a story like this. Not long ago, our lives changed forever when our beautiful 6-year-old daughter was killed by a drunk driver while we were stopped at a red light, just ten minutes from home on Grand Forks Air Force Base. Losing her has been the greatest heartbreak of our lives. There are no words that can fully capture the depth of that loss, and nothing will ever replace the little girl who made us parents. As we’ve learned to live with unimaginable grief, we’ve also found ourselves searching for hope.

 After many conversations, prayers, and tears, we’ve decided to pursue IVF. IVF is our only opportunity to have another child, and even then, our chances of success are about 50%. This journey is not about replacing our daughter, because that could never happen. She will always be our first child, and she will always be deeply loved and missed. This is simply our way of holding onto hope while carrying her memory with us every step of the way. IVF comes with significant financial costs, and we are humbly asking for help.

 Through Justice For Katarina, we’ve had the privilege of supporting others in our community during difficult times. Giving back has become one way we’ve honored our daughter’s legacy and kept her kindness alive. We never expected that one day we would be the ones asking for support, but here we are.
