Iva'n's Parents: Hurricane Maria

Iva'n's elderly parents (Mami and Papi) were significantly affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico on September 20th, and are not coping well. They are without electricity - they need to purchase ice every day just to keep their food fresh. The average temperature in Puerto Rico is 90 degrees! There are reports that some homes in Puerto Rico will not get electricity until next spring!
They also need to fix the fence around their house and make repairs to their yard.
It has been a very distressing time for them.
Iva'n and Martha and the rest of Iva'n's family want to bring Mami and Papi to live in the US, as Papi suffers from Parkinson's Disease. This latest catastrophe, has precipitated their desire to speed this up. The plan is to bring them to the US permanently, as soon as possible. They will spend the winter months with Iva'n's brother and his family in Florida (as Chicagoland is too cold for Papi's Parkinson's Disease) and the rest of the year with Iva'n, Martha and the boys.
Their most immediate need is for a generator, as they have no idea how long they will be without electricity.
They will then need to carry out the repairs to their house and yard, get their house ready to turn over, and fly to the US for their new life.
Iva'n and his parents and the whole family appreciates anything you can do to help! Anything left over, after paying for the generator, all of the repairs, and getting Mami and Papi set up in the US, will be given to the charity, Samaritan's Purse, to support other victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
As all of you know, the Sostre family is much loved by all their family and friends - they are wonderful, loving people, who do so much for others. Martha and Iva'n have been public school teachers locally for many years, and are so loved and respected at their schools! They are amazing role models for the kids they teach! They are also active volunteers in their community. It's our time to lend a hand to them!
