Muchos me preguntan:
¿Ivan esta conectado a máquinas?
Respuesta: NO
¿Pero te puede hablar?
Respuesta: NO
¿Pero te ve?
Respuesta: NO SE
Pero ¿camina?
Respuesta: NO
Pero ¿mejorará?
Respuesta: NO SE
¿Te rendirás?
Respuesta: NO

It has been more than two years, six surgeries, multiple hospitalizations, medical appointments, and physical therapies since that 21st of June… two years in which we have left all in the past and in the hands of our God. Now we opt to focus in the fact that in November 17 we CELEBRATE 5 YEARS OF MARRIAGE. IVAN AND I ARE HAPPY FOR ALL WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED IN THESE YEARS TOGETHER. And even though our last 2 1/2 years have been tough I can certainly say that these 5 years have been AMAZING BECAUSE I HAVE BY MY SIDE THE MOST WONDERFUL BEING.

I have to be honest to myself and everyone that sorrounds us… every now and then we are threaten by memories, nightmares, nerves and that syndrome i hate the most, the post-trauma. But in general we are doing great! How is it possible? Well, even though life has been hitting us real hard, the truth is that the Devil, nor the trauma, nor the post-trauma have been able to take away from us those things that really makes our life richer: our spirituality, our love as friends, our love as husband and wife, our brothers and sisters in faith, our friends, a roof to live under and food to eat everyday. We have been blessed with even more than we have needed. There is no doubt that the help we have received have helped us to survive all this time and there is not a way of denying that it has all been a blessing. Thanks to Jehovah and you, we have not lacked anything until today.
Ivan my husband has all the comodities we have been able to offer him. Although it has been very hard we have managed to take care of him with all the love of the world and within its limitations we continue trying to give him a better quality of life.
For many of those who have asked, Ivan is still alive even though his prognosis of life was a short period of time. He is still here because HE BREATHES. IVAN BREATHES ON HIS OWN AND HIS HEART IS PUMPING STRONG.

After having him back from the hospital he have had small but significant improvements. Throughout the process there have been multiple hospitalizations, surgeries and therapies. Despite all the effort and the great work of doctors, he remains bedridden in a persistent comatose state which entails a huge economic expense. But… let me continue to tell you more about these small but significant improvements he have accomplished. Even being bedridden he have managed to move his body, open his eyes, swallows a little on his own and squeezes my hand sometimes. Even so, we have not been able to establish a communication bridge, reason why doctors still consider his state as a coma. We dont know how much he understands of what he hears but we are working on that.

Many people ask me:
Is Ivan connected to life supporting machines?
Answer: NO

Can he talk to you?
Answer: NO

Does he see you?
Answer: DO NOT KNOW

Can he walk?
Answer: NO

His vondition will improve?
Answer: DO NOT KNOW

Will you give up?
Answer: NO

But until when?
UNTIL HE STOPS BREATHING

The next step towards Ivan’s recovery is a complex procedure to remove a cyst from his brain. I will keep you informed on how everything turns out. The most recent surgery was performed just right before hurricane Irma hit Puerto Rico making the recovery process very difficult and dangerous for his health. In addition, as everyone knows after the monstruous hurricane Maria everything in the island habe been even more difficult. There is no electricity, therebis no water… and even if we have a generator the costs of fuel and maintanance are immense for what we can afford. Your help can never be paid back but it will never be underestimated nor disregarded. We truly believe in the words of Psalm 37: 25 “…I have not seen anyone righteous abandoned, nor his children looking for bread”.
Thanks from today to eternal life!
Ivan “Vanchy” and I truly love you!
