Help Itzel Go To High School For 4 yrs

Donation protected
Itzel is a bright, hard working and talented young woman who has worked her whole life to beat the odds. Her dreams and aspirations were not to have the coolest backpack or the nicest shoes however they were to do well enough in middle school to allow her to achieve her dream of attending a private school. Her parents both came to this country from Mexico when they were just teenagers and Itzel currently lives with 11 people in the same house. After seeing the struggle her parents have gone and continue to go through, Itzel knew at a young age that her education would allow her to open the door to a better life for herself and her family. After applying to dozens of private high schools Itzel was thrilled and proud to find out she had been accepted to multiple fantastic private high schools in her area. A couple of the schools have offered partial scholarships and her parents have saved around $2,000 for tuition however it is still much more than her family can afford. We are all so incredibly proud of the work Itzel has put in to bettering herself and her education and we don't want something as small as money to shatter the hope of a better life for this incredible young women. No amount is too small and we greatly appreciate any donations you can provide for her. Below is a message from Itzel herself of how much this opportunity would mean to her.

A message from Itzel:

My parents are wonderful people who came to this country from Mexico when they were teenagers. They are not well educated, they work very hard and struggle for money. However, they love my sister and I very much and want us to have a better life. When I was chosen to participate in the Peninsula Bridge Program, I saw for the first time, a whole new world. My parents also saw that world. My parents and I realized that a really good education was what I needed for a better life.

The very first time I walked on the Mercy campus, I felt at home. I want to attend Mercy for many reasons. Mercy would offer me a challenging education. It would offer me many opportunities that I cannot get in a public high school. When I shadowed at Mercy, I saw students who worked hard and looked very happy. My shadow host explained to me that the teachers at Mercy are always available to the students. I like knowing that if I need help, teachers will be there to help me.

Thankfully, I was accepted into Mercy. Unfortunately, they are not giving us enough financial aid. I do not want to lose this wonderful opportunity just because we cannot afford it. I know that if I attend Mercy I know I will receive a wonderful education. I want that education so I can achieve my dream of going to a great college.
