<div>This is Penny Macphail, founder of Good Fairy Marin. Welcome to our fourth ridiculously ambitious annual thermal sleeping bag and cold weather supplies drive for folks currently homeless.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As always, experts in Marin’s agencies who care for the unsheltered advise us on contents, and the packs are primarily distributed by them. Hence, packs are not standalone gifts but part of an ongoing relationship steering folks to health and housing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Starting in Sept 2024, we aim to collate 100!!! more sleeping bags and comprehensive cold weather and winter safety packs. Contents are designed to keep people warm, dry, comfortable enough to actually sleep and more able to raise an alarm or escape from danger. Each pack costs $100 covering:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Sleeping bag
</li>
<li>Two blankets
</li>
<li>Small but v cosy pillow
</li>
<li>Flashlight &amp; extra batteries
</li>
<li>Safety whistle
</li>
<li>2 microwaveable hot meals
</li>
<li>Rain poncho
</li>
<li>A ladybug painted stone, to gift or keep.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why now?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We need to fundraise now so we can start bulk buying contents. Completed packs are needed in advance of cold, wet, windy winter weather. Each year agencies try to equip people before the first big storms hit. Inevitably, they also face a surge of requests after them .. as people are in crisis having been caught out.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It’s ridiculously ambitious but we’ve DONE it for three years running. And we’ve probably saved lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No worries if you can’t fund a whole bag, any amount or even just sharing this is fantastic.

<div><strong>Who do we work with?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The folks we work with include Community Action Marin's Outreach team, The Ritter Center, The St Vincent De Paul Society, Marin's Interfaith Street Chaplaincy and Downtown Streets.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Personal Fairy Wishes</strong> - Sometimes we reach out directly or through an agency to bring 'fairy wishes' to an individual on the street - this can be anything from getting them a wheeling suitcase or a belt to surprising them with art supplies or a hot pizza.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Tents</strong> - Good Fairy Marin collects second-hand tents and sleeping bags year round to gift via these agencies.
