Hi Everyone!
My name is Stephanie. Approximately 6 days ago now my mother had a stroke. She is 55 years old and this was completely unexpected... She was in fairly good health. My mother is an incredibly strong woman and has been fighting strong for days. She was just recently discharged from the hospital. I spent all my days and hours there with her trying to help get her better. She has also been very fortunate for some family and friends support through this very difficult time. At the time of discharge it was decided by the stroke team at the hospital that she was doing too well for inpatient facility and was being released for home care. This meant she needed to be on 24 hour supervision. As her daughter and best friend I have taken on this and made her comfortable in my home. I have had to take family medical leave through my employer to be able to be home with her. Each day we work hard to say new words, color, use her brain so that we can have her back to a speedy recovery. For those who know us we make an awesome team! Reality is sinking in fast though and there are tons of medical bills to be paid, speech therapy appointments to make, and normal life necesities to pay for. I really am not one to ask for assistance, I am actually pretty stubborn like my mom, but without a paycheck coming in things may get a little difficult. We are asking for any donations kindly from those who would like to help support Debbie in her speedy recovery. I struggled with the goal amount when I had to put one on here, so I put one, I am not sure how much this will all cost in the end... We have decided that whatever is left over from the donations that we didn't use we are going to donate back to this website to help other families in need.
