It Takes Guts

After 23 years of battling Crohn's Disease, I am now in need of the best medical care in the country. We have made a decision as a family that the best care would be provided to me by returning to Duke University, in Durham, N.C. It is a difficult decision, in part, because I have already exhausted many of my financial resources battling this disease. Because of how severe my case is, I have not been able to work for months; and I currently do not qualify for any disability assistance. Beyond my private insurance, everything is out of pocket. One of the big questions I get a lot is: "How can I help?"

As many of you know the time frame for the Duke treatment plan is unknown. But it will likely involve many trips back and forth from Birmigham to Duke.
So how you can help me answer the question, "How can I help?" is by helping me pay for any out of pocket expenses my insurance will not cover. My guess is this will mostly help with travel, room and board, car rental/uber rides, hospital expenses (not covered by insurance), and just daily out of pocket spending. But since much of this is unknown I'm asking for your help to create a version of a savings account.

Again, I just want to express how grateful and thankful for those of you who have followed my journey from the very beginning. Thank you for sticking with me throughx this ever changing roller coaster called Crohn's.
