Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read our story and help our family.
My husband David and I met 9 years ago in the mountains of Colorado. Even though we lived on opposite sides of the Continental Divide, we became close friends, and eventually moved in together. We were married June 21st, 2014, uniting the two of us, and David's two children, Isabelle and Adrian, into a whole family.
Over the summer David had started feeling short of breath when we would go for a walk. We thought it was because he had quit smoking - maybe it was just his body adjusting - but as the months went by it got worse. After some doctor visits, and a few tests, we were referred to a cardiologist who told us that David had a hole in his heart, but he thought that with a fairly straightforward procedure, the hole could be mended and life would go back to normal.
On Thursday, December 11, David went in for the final tests to map out the plan for the upcoming procedure, but after the catheterization test the cardiologist came back with some devastating news; The hole was actually not one, but many, and this congenital heart defect had greatly impacted his lungs. Because of this, the procedure has become much more complicated, and therefore is going to take some time to figure out how they will go about fixing it. Heart surgery is imminent, but it's unsure right now how severe the long term effects might be.
As of December 4th, David has not been able to work, and we are now in the process of getting him on disability. I am working full time, but my income alone doesn't quite cover our bills.
We are here to ask for help covering our monthly expenses, mainly rent, so that we can stay in our home and keep our lives as stable as possible - for ourselves and our kids. We have a goal of $5000, which would pay our rent for 5 months, and would relieve one more stress during this time. Any help you can give us would be so greatly appreciated!
Even if you aren't able to donate to our fund, if you could please just take a moment and focus healing energy and strength on David. He is truly the love of my life, the most incredible father, and a wonderful man; your help will not be wasted, and we will be forever grateful!
