Hello everyone!
At Island Bee Project, we're starting our third season working with honeybees on Governors Island. This season we'll be working as an independent entity with our own space at the Urban Farm area of the island. This is exciting for us as our new space is larger and in a more public area, which presents us with a unique opportunity to teach more visitors about the importance of the honeybee to local agriculture.
However, as an independent entity, there are new costs that we haven't experienced in the past seasons.
Some of these new expenses include:
-Insurance for the space to protect all of our visitors.
-New storage equipment for safely containing new beehives.
-More beehives for expansion of our apiary.
-Suits and gloves for visitor inspections and events.
-Educational materials for upcoming workshops.
-Honey extraction equipment so that we can share our harvest with our supporters!
We'd love to reach our goal by June 30th!

We absolutely would not be able to do this important work without the love and dedication we've received over the past seasons. Your visits, volunteer efforts and words of encouragement are what makes what we do so rewarding!
