Isaiah's trip to Liberia!

Donation protected
Greetings! All of the support and inspiration that I have received over the years from family and friends has aided tremendously in my success. I am truly grateful for you and your support. Leaving Alabama State University and coming to Morehouse College this fall has broadened my scope in a way that is truly indescribable. The people and experiences that I will encounter in the next few years will, in fact, leave an everlasting effect on my life. I am writing you to ask for your financial assistance in fulfilling my wishes to spend a portion of my winter break in Liberia, West Africa to participate in educational enrichment, cultural immersion and most importantly, a meaningful service program.

Throughout my life, my parents set an example of serving others and I am truly grateful for their support and guidance in every way possible. They also gave me the perspective that it isn't always about me. My parents also encouraged me to figure out who I am as a person and where I come from so that I would be able to deliver the best version of myself to each individual that I come in contact with. This has influenced my desire to participate in this fellowship program to Liberia. I would like to continue to explore the world as it has many places, things, and people for me to experience. This will help my overall mental state and the way in which I will live my life.

Since entering college, I have been a member of Student Orientation Services, Collegiate 100 – 100 Black Men of America, Rehabilitation Services Club, and the ASPIRE mentoring program. After being accepted into Morehouse College I immediately began thinking of all the possibilities of service and gaining knowledge of self that would be at my disposal. The Liberia, West Africa Fellowship Program will be one of many opportunities to grow as an individual and most importantly serve. I have experienced firsthand how traveling the world can change one's perspective and I am looking forward to this trip to do just that. The trip will be from December 9th-18th.

15 other students will accompany me from Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University where we will spend nine days exploring the city and its many historical sights and serving at a local orphanage. Upon my arrival back home I plan to expand my horizons with the knowledge gained from this experience as well as grooming myself to be a student leader at Morehouse College. I truly believe in the saying that “Service to others is the rent we pay for living here on earth.” Again, thank you for your continued support of my personal and educational endeavors. Thank you in advance for considering donating to my fund to experience this wonderful life changing opportunity.

The final date for the submission of my fees is November 25, 2017.

Best,

Isaiah Wasson
