Isaac's Hip Replacement Surgery

Donation protected
On March 15, 2017 a 28-year old university student in Kenya named Isaac Njogu, a friend of a close friend (Geoffrey Kungu), was riding a public van when it was struck by a truck (hit & run).  Isaac suffered a broken hip joint and some internal injuries and was in the hospital until June 5, leaving in a specially-ordered wheelchair. He was taken to live with his elderly uncle in a rural area to live in a mud hut with no running water as there was no other option.  Soon Isaac had to be rushed back to the hospital for surgery as a serious blood clot had developed (deep vein thrombosis).  While hospitalized this second time, the doctors determined that Isaac needed a hip joint replacement surgery for avascular necrosis costing $7,700 (some of which has already been raised). In the words of orthopedic surgeon Dr. GeorgeMuniu overseeing his care, "This is the best the hospital can offer to save Isaac from spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair."

Isaac is an orphan with three younger siblings, a brother and two sisters (ages 13, 15, and 19), and was supporting them by himself by working jobs while studying for his electrical engineering degree which has now been put on hold.  (Isaac is determined to go back to the university not only to graduate but to get his master's.)  The siblings are now living with my friend Geoffrey, putting a strain on his budget, but God is providing for their basic needs.

As of this writing on June 28, he is scheduled to have his hip replacement surgery in a few hours.  He is at the Armed Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.
