Isaac's brain cyst surgery

In early September, our son, Isaac fell down some stairs. We thought he may have a concussion, so we took him to the ER. The doctor decided to do a CT scan to be sure there wasn't a brain bleed. When the doctor came into our room, to give us the results, he told us there was no brain bleed from the fall but Isaac has an arachnoid cyst on his brain. We were sent to Devos Children’s Hospital for further imagining.

On Sept. 20th, We went to Devos for an MRI and met with the neurosurgeon. We left that appointment without any answers. The doctor wanted more imaging before he could diagnose. Two weeks later, we took Isaac back for a sedated MRI that was 45 minutes long. We met with the neurosurgeon after the MRI and learned it was a different cyst than what we originally thought.

The cyst Isaac has is called an epidermoid cyst. The danger of a cyst like this is that it will continue to grow and eventually rupture. If this would happen to rupture, Isaac would get very very Ill causing him to have symptoms of meningitis.

So, that leads us to brain surgery. We have an appointment with the neurosurgeon Oct. 20th to go over all of our questions, then we will move forward with the surgery. All the medical bills have added up very quickly.
