Isaac Blair Robles - Medical Fund

Meet Isaac Blair Robles! He was born on Saturday, May 20th weighing 2lbs 6.3 oz.  This sweet boy arrived 3 months before his due date of Auguest 15th. He has spent over 50  days so far being cared for by the amazing staff in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Beaumont Royal Oak.

He has had an incredible journey so far, and has come such a long way. This kid truly is "advanced for his age"! He has gone from needing machines to do almost every function for him; to eating on his own, breathing on his own, regulating his own body temperature, and digesting all his food with no IV interventions! He has been seen by lots of specialists to make sure he's growing and developing just like he should have in the womb, and so far, he's doing a great job!

When Isaac was born, he went through 3 IV's in his first 12 hours, with one of them blowing his vein, but continuing to push medicine into his tiny little arm. They pulled the IV right away, but the right arm was already pretty far damaged. They call it an IV burn, and most of the nurses have never seen one as bad as his. He had to have a preemie version of a central line put in, since his veins clearly wouldn't accept the IV's. His right arm has been in a sealed sterile bag of medicinal gel since his second day of life. The burn went from the middle of his hand, to the middle of his forearm. It has healed at an incredible rate, but having a gel "cast" on this entire time has cost him range of motion in his wrist, and he has experienced nerve damage down through his thumb. He will need to work with Physical and Occupational therapists even after discharge.

Isaac will also need a special eye exam once a week until he is 42 weeks "corrected" (2 weeks after his due date) to make sure his eyes arent developing any issues as they form.

The Robles family, like most families, did not expect to take on the amount of medical bills that come with giving birth to a baby prematurely. Isaac is considered one of the "million dollar babies" because of the cost of his medical bills. Most of that will be covered by insurance, thankfully. But even a portion of what it costs to keep baby Issac alive, is a pretty significant amount of money. $5,000 toward those bills would be an incredible blessing to help Team Robles get closer to the finish line!
