<div>My name is <strong>Sandra de la Riva</strong>, an amateur triathlete based in Strasbourg, France. I’m currently training for one of the greatest challenges of my life: my first full-distance <strong>IRONMAN in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, in September 2025 — a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike ride, and 42.2 km run</strong>.

<div><strong>Why This Race Matters</strong>:

<div><br />
</div>
<div>I grew up in a home marked by emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, in a context of economic hardship where I often felt unsafe, unseen, and powerless. As a child, I was made fun of for my weight and constantly told that I wasn't capable — that I would never amount to much. I believed it for a long time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As an adult, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. But instead of letting that stop me, it fueled my desire to get stronger, to learn, and to thrive. I discovered movement — first strength training, then endurance sports — and slowly began to rebuild not just my body, but my belief in myself.
</div>

</div>
<div>This Ironman is not just a personal challenge — it’s a message:

<div>We can rise. We can heal. And we can rewrite the stories we were told about who we are and what we’re worth.

<div>️ <strong>Racing in Honor of Cancer Warriors</strong>:

</div>
<div>This race is also in honor of those I’ve lost to cancer — my father, uncle, and aunt — and for my husband, a cancer survivor, whose courage inspires me every day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To close this chapter with purpose, I will shave my head after the race and donate my hair to an organization that supports individuals in cancer treatment — a symbolic gesture of solidarity and hope.
</div>

<div>J’ai grandi dans un environnement marqué par des violences émotionnelles, physiques et sexuelles, dans une grande précarité économique. Enfant, j’étais en surpoids, moquée, et souvent rabaissée. On me répétait que je n’étais pas capable, que je n’irais nulle part. Et je l’ai cru, pendant longtemps.

<div>À l’âge adulte, j’ai appris que j’avais une scoliose sévère. Mais au lieu de baisser les bras, j’ai décidé de me renforcer — physiquement et mentalement. Le sport m’a permis de me reconstruire, de retrouver confiance, et de me reconnecter à ma force intérieure.

<div>Cet Ironman est bien plus qu’un défi physique :

<div>Je dédie aussi cette course à ceux que j’ai perdus à cause du cancer — mon père, mon oncle, ma tante — et à mon mari, survivant du cancer, dont la force m’inspire chaque jour.

<div>Après la ligne d’arrivée, je ferai un geste symbolique : me raser la tête pour offrir mes cheveux à une association de lutte contre le cancer. <strong>Un hommage, un acte de solidarité, un message de vie.</strong>

<div>Crecí en un entorno marcado por abuso emocional, físico y sexual, en una situación de gran precariedad económica. De niña, sufría sobrepeso, me hacían bullying y me decían que no era capaz. Y durante años, lo creí.
</div>

<div>Ya de adulta, me diagnosticaron una escoliosis severa. Pero en lugar de rendirme, decidí fortalecerme — en cuerpo y mente. El deporte me ayudó a reconstruirme, a recuperar la confianza, y a descubrir mi verdadero valor.

<div>Este Ironman es mucho más que una meta física.

<div>Es un mensaje de esperanza. <strong>Una prueba de que podemos levantarnos, liberarnos, y reescribir nuestra historia.</strong>
