Our Friend's Irma Support Fund

Zharia is a junior at the University of Southern California. She is originally from the Tortola, which is in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), and unfortunately her family is currently facing the devastation of Hurricane Irma. In fact, devastation is an understatement. Her house is destroyed and her mother's store is destroyed and has been looted. Her family, friends, the employees of the store, and many more, are deeply affected. In this coming week, another Tropical Storm is slated to hit near the Islands as well.

We've provided pictures of her home and the island to try and communicate the urgency that is needed to respond to this terrible event.

The reason this fund has been made is because she needs money to be able to continue in school. Her school tuition is being paid in large part by the BVI government as well as her parents, but due to the circumstances at home things are becoming more difficult to maintain. The government has to put its focus into rebuilding and the schools on the island and her family needs resources to rebuild. 

She would hardly let us make this fund because she wants the focus to be on providing resources for the whole BVI and she insisted we keep the fund goal low, because that's the type of person that she is. We hope that we can surpass her expectations and help her family and friends rebuild by creating this page in order to keep her in a secure state. 

Zharia is a humble, loyal, and loving person with unimaginable talent and passion. We cannot put into words the generosity and creativity Zharia consistently shares. I hope we can return the favor

In order to reassure donors, I would like to offer my information. My name is Zachary Barack and I'm from Glenview, Illinois though I currently reside in California.

Zharia's other friends and I organized this campaign. She is my best friend.

The funds for this will go directly towards her school tuition and other necessities for her education.

Due to some formalities with gofundme's verification process and the extenuating circumstances of the events which we are responding to, Zharia and I agreed that the funds will be withdrawn and put into a savings account under my name. It will then be wired to her account. This information is for Gofundme and the donors to be assured of where there money is going to land.
