During the storm, three women (one of whom was eight months pregnant) hid in a cramped closet with three dogs for almost six hours. Even with steel hurricane shutters, the men scrambled desperately to clear the apartment of broken glass and water while enduring wind gusts of up to 225 mph.
The concrete condo in which they rode out the storm saved their lives but was severely damaged in the process.
Katie and Mike lost their home and their places of employment. Their car was ruined, as were most of their furnishings and worldly possessions. Their lives as they’ve known it for years have been destroyed and they need every basic necessity to begin again on the U.S. mainland.
They have decided to relocate to Colorado to be close to her family for now. Money donated will be used for travel to Colorado, food and provisions while they look for jobs and an apartment in Denver, security deposit and first month's rent, a vehicle, furniture, household goods, shoes, clothes, and basic life necessities until they can generate income.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and will be readily available for their immediate use. Blessings and thanks! Mimi Foster, mother to Katie Foster, Colorado Springs, Colorado
