Hurricane Irma Glades Hostel! Help!

Donation protected
This photo is only one small portion of the grounds. We finally have power to charge the phones and have been able to post more photos of the devastation. We sucessfully completed our FEMA paperwork and are pleased that we can expect help "maybe in two to three months." The clean up efforts are moving along helped by a family that arrived from Tennessee armed with a chain saw. Our Everglades Hostel Oasis was hit by a mini cyclone that tore the tops out of most of the trees and uprooted a dozen others while it left our hammock magically unscathed! Mother Nature has a sense of humor and thought that we might need a place to rest between sawing, dragging, and piling. We are truely grateful the building is strong and kept us alive. I am also thankful we are no longer dodging falling limbs, aka. "widow makers." as we attempt to make pathways through the debris. We are not only asking you, kind travelers and friends, to help us pay for the clean up and debris removal but are willing to house any volunteers, single or in groups, that want to come down and help with relief efforts in Florida City, Homestead, and the Glades. We are safe and have a lot of work in front of us!! Check out our Facebook Page "Everglades Hostel and Tours" for updates, videos and and photos of the devastation.
