8 of them, 4 adults and 4 children, rode out the nightmare storm in our cousin Rachelle's apartment in Sandy Ground. All the windows broke in and the door flew open, and the storm surge from the sea flooded the apartment, which is on the SECOND FLOOR. The adults surrounded and covered the children (ages 3, 4, 8, and 9) and prayed for their safety. Aunt Yvette's home in Sandy Ground - the roof blew off and the house fully flooded, so everything is gone. Afric's sister's house in Marigot completely flooded from storm surge as well. All the cars within the family were washed away by the sea so there is no transportation.
Now there is no power, no phone service, no transportation, and they are rationing what little food and water they have. Their jobs are gone because the businesses have all been destroyed. After all these devastating losses, they are going to need help to get back on their feet.
Many have reached out to us asking how to help during this time of crisis. A donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated so that we can purchase emergency supplies for them as soon as possible, and later hopefully, rebuilding supplies.
One of our biggest challenges right now is how to get packages to them directly to the French side, since there are no flights going into the island, only evacuating people out. We are working on this challenge, and we will find a way.
Thank you all for your love and support.
