Help fund Calvin's Journey

Calvin was born on February 25, 2014. He is full of life and has been a warrior since day one.  Calvin was born in NB and since day one, he has had low platelets, and spent a week in the NICU, but with no reason at that time as to why he had low platelets, he was released from hospital.  We moved back to ontario when Calvin was 5 weeks old and almost immedidiately Calvin began his journey at Sick Kids hospital in Toronto, trying to figure out why his platelets drop and require weekly transfusions.  But to look at Calvin, you would never know he is sick.
But Calvin has been diagnosed with Wiskott Aldrich Syndrome.  (WAS) is a genetically inherited imminodefency disease that occurs almost exclusively in males and it effects 1 in 250,000.  It affects the function of the white blood cells making Calvin susceptible to serious infections.  This is also a significant reduction in the size of the platelets causing him to bleed easily.  Therefore, Calvin has been travelling to SKH to have weekly platelet transfusions since he was 3 months old.
The only proven cure so far for this rare disease is a bone marrow transplant.  Successfully transplanted patients go on to lead normal lives,completey free from this disease.  Calvin is in need of this transplant and with no family match; we have been relaying on an unrelated donor.  As transplant is the only chance of survival for Calvin, we have been reaching out to the kindness of strangers for help for a match.  And we are SO HAPPY to report that Calvin HAS A MATCH!!!!! Someone was lead to join the bone marrow registry just a few weeks before we found out, and is a match for our sweet baby boy.  The kindness of this stranger is going to save Calvins life!! We will be forever greatful for our angel donor for the gift of life.  What a true meaning to the gift of giving.  So with thanksgiving to God, we are heading to transplant January 5, 2015.
We have been asked by many people how they can help us so we have set up this fund as a means for you to help us through this journey of life.  As with any medical issues,  comes extra financial stresses.   We will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto, with these extra housing expenses, parking, food and any other medical bills that should occur while we are displaced, we would be so appreciative of any help that you are felt lead to give.  Ever dollar helps and we are forever greatful for any support sent our way.
We know that God has a great plan for our little Calvin's life and we are so blessed to have this warrior in our lives.  He is a fighter and we know that he will fight his way through and conquer this very rare disease.  So from our family to yours, We THANK YOU!!
