Double Mastectomy Medical costs

Dear friends and supporters,

Please take some time to read this email carefully for there is an urgent need of prayer. I am asking each of you to consider responding to this message in a specific way. Thank you.

THIS IS A STORY OF GRACE AND ENDURANCE.

Over 15 years ago, my mother, Sandra Flanigan, was diagnosed with leukemia and given 6 weeks to 3 months to live. She has also survived various other diseases and hardships. In the last 15 years, she has had 15 different major surgical operations including the removal of multiple tumors and an open heart surgery.

For 15 years, she has baffled doctors, surgeons, and specialists alike.  Since 2006 my mom has had a heart attack, open heart surgery, a tumor in her neck, a hysterectomy, numerous back surgeries, spinal fusion, and now facing a double mastecomy. God has so preserved her body over these years and has used it to glorify Jesus through her.  Don't believe in miracles? Look at Sandra Flanigan.

In June this year, my mother discovered a mass in one of her breasts while doing a normal checkup. Soon after, it was diagnosed as a tumor that is mutating from a benign to a malignant, cancerous, tumor. A few weeks afterward, she was also informed that the insurance company refused her coverage for a surgery to get the mass removed because it had recently changed its policy so that it only covers patients with breast cancer.

If she contracts another form of cancer on top of her already 15 years of immune-depleting chemo treatments, she will likely go into liver failure due to the strain that another type of chemotherapy would put on her body. The situation with my mother's health is quite a ridiculous phenomenon.

Thus, they have been faced with the choice of doing the surgery now and trusting God with the finances to pay for this $50,000-$75,000 procedure or wait until the masses completely mutate.  My mother is scheduled for a double mastectomy on Monday, December 15th. Not only has she been informed that her insurance will be dropped as of January 1st, 2015,. the insurance has also denied coverage for this surgery.

Please pray for my mother, "the fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much."  Jesus told us that if we pray according to the will of God and if we persist in praying for certain issues faithfully, then God will answer us (Luke 18:1-8).

My purpose and goal is to raise $50,000 for surgery and medical expenses. We have a grateful heart for any donation you feel led to give.

In Christ,

Cheyton Flanigan
