This Summer I am blessed to be participating in Creighton University's Institute for Latin America Concern (ILAC) in the Dominican Republic. The ILAC program has been serving people of the Dominican Republic for over 40 years by staffing makeshift clinics in remote rural regions. Because the need for care and education is so immense in the Dominican Republic, ILAC has received many requests to provide services.
As an ILAC participant, I will be volunteering in an impoverished village in the Dominican Republic to help provide health care and education, and, equally important, I will be learning about the Dominican Republic culture and lifestyle.
The ILAC program represents a rare opportunity to live among the Dominicans and experience their culture where material poverty governs a way of life. I look forward to the opportunity for personal, spiritual and professional growth. I will be joined by 60-65 students and 30-35 professionals on a 5-week immersion who are all volunteering their time and talents in this worthwhile endeavor.
This fundraiser is unlike many others. Your gift to the ILAC will not only help provide me the opportunity to participate in this program and apply my nursing skills, but also will buy medical supplies, food, and water for the lives that need it most. Your gift will help defray the living expenses and assist the volunteer work to give the Dominicans a gift money can't buy; hope. Please consider contributing to this cause, every little bit counts.
