I know many people already know my story but for those of you who don't here is what has been happening in my life the last month or two.
At the end of October I noticed a lump in my armpit that was sizable, Jordan and I both agreed that I should get it checked out. I went into my GP office the next day, knowing my family history of breast cancer the doctor suggested that I get a ultrasound and mammogram. The results of the mammogram were not what we expected at all, the mammogram showed a mass in my left breast. The next step was to do a biopsy; the results we received from the biopsy were less than desirable-both masses were malignant. A cancer diagnosis was a bit gut wrenching for our whole family.
The last few weeks has been a flurry of doctor appointments, blood draws, imaging, and information. It's all been a bit overwhelming but UCSD has been a fantastic and we feel well taken care of. As of right now the type of breast cancer I have is Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, which means that the cancer has spread from the breast to the lymph node(in my armpit). I am a ER,PR,HER2 Positive and a Stage 2( this may change depending on further imaging). I will be doing 20 weeks of chemo, then surgery and possibly radiation. I will be starting my chemo on December 29th.
Although we are upset over the diagnosis we are trusting and praying for God's will in this whole journey. We firmly believe what 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control". We are not fearful of what the future brings because we have our hope in Christ who gives us hope! We are so thankful for our family, friends and even strangers who have offered up their help, prayers and support.
