<div>Hoi, mijn naam is Ashley en ik zamel geld in voor mijn kat Gusje.

<div>Gusje heeft pica, een gedragsstoornis waarbij hij dwangmatig stof eet. We weten nog niet precies wat de oorzaak hiervan is. Hij eet onder andere stukjes van kussens, dekens, sokken, veters en gordijnen. We proberen dit zoveel mogelijk te voorkomen, maar soms lukt dat helaas niet en gaat het mis.

<div>Drie dagen geleden heeft hij stof gegeten dat een ernstige blokkade in zijn darmen veroorzaakte. Zijn ontlasting hoopte op, waardoor hij niet meer at of dronk. Na één dag kon hij door de pijn zelfs niet meer plassen.

<div>Zijn toestand verslechterde snel, en het werd duidelijk dat we hem aan het verliezen waren.
</div>
<div>We konden niet langer wachten en zijn met spoed op zaterdagavond naar een dierenkliniek gereden. Na een consult en een röntgenfoto bleek dat Gusje een ernstige obstructie had. Hij moest onmiddellijk onder narcose en geopereerd worden om zijn leven te redden.
</div>
<div>De operatie is gelukkig goed verlopen, maar de kosten hiervan zijn €1.400 in totaal.
</div>
<div>Dat bedrag hadden wij niet beschikbaar. We hebben daarom een betalingsregeling moeten treffen van €500 per maand, maar dit brengt ons helaas in financiële problemen.

<div>We weten dat niet alles gedekt zal kunnen worden, maar elke donatie helpt om de medische kosten van Gusje te betalen.

<div>Sommigen vragen zich misschien af waarom we geen dierenverzekering hebben. Dat waren we juist van plan om af te sluiten, maar helaas leer je zulke lessen vaak pas als het al te laat is.
</div>
<div>Gusje betekent alles voor mij. Ik zorg al 3,5 jaar met liefde voor hem, ondanks zijn aandoening, en weet dat hij een zorgkatje is. Maar dat betekent niet dat ik hem moet opgeven. We sparen wat we kunnen en doen er alles aan om zijn leven beter te maken.

<div>Hi, my name is Ashley and I’m raising money for my cat Gusje.
</div>
<div>Gusje has pica, a behavioral disorder that makes him compulsively eat things like fabric and fibers. We still don’t know the exact cause. He tends to chew or swallow bits of pillows, blankets, socks, shoelaces, and curtains.
</div>
<div>We do everything we can to prevent this, but sometimes things go wrong.
</div>
<div>Three days ago, he ate fabric that caused a severe blockage in his intestines. His stool built up, and he stopped eating and drinking. After one day, the pain became so intense that he could no longer urinate. His condition worsened rapidly, and it became clear that we were losing him.
</div>
<div>We couldn’t wait any longer and rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic on Saturday evening. After a consultation and an X-ray, the vet discovered a serious obstruction. Gusje had to be put under anesthesia and operated on immediately to save his life.
</div>
<div>The surgery thankfully went well , but the total cost was €1,400.
</div>
<div>We didn’t have that amount available, so we arranged a payment plan of €500 per month — but this will cause us serious financial difficulties.
</div>
<div>My partner works 50 hours a week, and I’m still a student, so our income is limited.
</div>

<div>We know not everything can be covered, but every donation helps to pay for Gusje’s medical treatment.
</div>
<div>Some people might wonder why we don’t have pet insurance. We were actually planning to get one, but sometimes you only learn the hard way..when it’s already too late.
</div>
<div>Gusje means everything to me. I’ve cared for him with love for 3.5 years, knowing he’s a special-needs cat, but that doesn’t mean I should give up on him. We save what we can and do everything possible to make his life better.
</div>
