Raise your voice for Ethiopian Girls!

About Us:
Talent Youth Association  promotes the health and well-being of Ethiopia’s youth by not only eliminating barriers but also enabling them to realize their full potential. It focuses on HIV/AIDS and reproductive health issues, while supporting youth employment and leadership within the community.

We are engaged in advancing adolescent girls and young women empowerment in which we are primarily focusing on ensuring access to girls education and prevention of harmful traditional practices that prevent adolescent girls to drop out of school and to not continue their education like early marriage. We are also engaged in promoting sexual reproductive health education for girls and young women to prevent teen pregnancy so that they will not drop out of school.

Our Idea:

The Alternative Pathway to Lower Secondary Dropout Girls project will bring back 500 out of school girls to continue their education in Ethiopia.

We want to enroll 500 students to secondary school so they can complete 10th grade,  also enroll 250 dropouts to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by providing them quality education and skill training which lead them to employment.

Furthermore, self help groups will be established to help them generate income through introducing a revolving fund. The re-joined out-of- school girls will be assisted to achieve high academic performance by strictly implementing the training of school teachers in accelerating learning techniques, administering peer to peer tutorial and additional computer education.

How can we make this work?
Through alternative classes in TVET such as night and distance paths; marketability skills assessment, training with basic computer literacy and soft skills to increase employment possibility.

How will the money be used?

• $23,000 to cover essential costs of supplies for adolescent girls including stationary materials, sanitary pads, bags, school uniforms and the school fee
• $10,000 to establish a revolving fund and self help groups for adolescents girls to start income generating activities
• $5,000 to cover project running costs $5,000
• $5,000 for community awareness raising programs to reduce early marriage
• $3,500 to run a peer to peer tutorial program for adolescent girls
• $3,000 to establish and run a project stakeholders group that will technically support the project undertaking
• $500 to select the right beneficiaries

Total cost: $50,000
