<div><strong>Children with refugee backgrounds often endure severe trauma</strong>, yet they lack the necessary support. The number of displaced children has surged from <strong>18.8 million in 2010 to 47.2 million in 2023 (UNHCR)</strong>—with no signs of slowing down.

<div>We must harness their <strong>resilience, strength, and hope</strong>, or we risk facing a mental health crisis that will impact generations to come.

<div><strong>StoryKid </strong>supports the mental health of kids with <strong>tech-enabled life story sessions</strong> that are:

<div>•	<strong>Inclusive</strong> and accessible in displacement, when mental health care is limited, and cultural and language barriers exist.

<div>•	<strong>Creative</strong> and playful, so children can own their life stories and feel empowered to rebuild their futures.

<div>StoryKid's approach is grounded in <strong>Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)</strong>, developed in collaboration with psychotrauma experts, and informed by knowledge from the NET Institute.

<div>Guided by therapeutic professionals, <strong>children aged 6 and older create a lifeline</strong>—marking traumatic experiences as stones and beautiful moments as flowers. This creative process helps them to better understand who they are, opening up to their past, present, and future. At the end, they receive a personalized booklet that tells their story, serving as an

<div>•	She holds a PhD in social entrepreneurship, focused on underserved communities, and storytelling for social change.

<div>•	Her wide network of organizations, experts, and personal connections within refugee communities provides a solid foundation for building this project that centers children’s experiences.

<div>Asma is a storyteller, educator at heart, and mother of two with <strong>deep personal involvement</strong> in mental health care.

<div>•	Her work as a cultural mediator and translator, fuels her passion and commitment to these children—who too often are talked about instead of being listened to.

<div>•	Once the project is up and running, she will establish a <strong>children’s advisory board </strong>to ensure their voices can be expressed freely and their dreams are taken seriously.
