Biking for STEM Invention in Scouts

Tax deductible
WHAT I'M DOING:  I'm raising funds for the Invention Merit Badge in Scouting, to inspire the next generation of tinkerers, makers and inventors during my  bike ride across the US from Boston to San Francisco.

WHY I'M FUNDRAISING FOR INVENTION EDUCATION:
Scouting has had a profound effect on both my personal and professional passions - building a love for the outdoors and inspiring me to become an inventor of performance apparel . All of this invariably led me to co-founding Ministry of Supply .

Now, I'm looking to combine those two to inspire the next generation of tinkerers, makers and inventors by raising funds for Scouting's  Inventing Merit Badge

THE INVENTION MERIT BADGE AND THE LEMELSON-MIT PROGRAM

While in college, I had the opportunity to work with the Lemelson-MIT Program (based within MIT), which aims to inspire youth through invention. During this time, The Boy Scouts of America partnered with Lemelson-MIT to launch the Inventing Merit Badge and other STEM education initiatives.

Invention and STEM education are critical to the future of American Innovation, and programs like the Inventing Merit Badge and InvenTeams provide the project-based learning that works best. The curriculum we wrote focuses on the fundamentals of researching, designing and solving real-life problems through hands-on prototyping and showing professional avenues for bringing those inventions to life.

An excerpt from the Inventing Merit Badge book sharing my experience:

USE OF FUNDS:

Scouting has now become a co-educational program further extending the reach of this type of STEM education. The funds raised here will support Scouting through the Lemelson-MIT Program's curriculum offering for the Invention Merit Badge and InventTeams for Scouts ages 11-17 across the nation.

Your support is appreciated! Hope to see you in San Francisco!
