Intruder Locks For MCSD

Donation protected
With the recent school shooting in Florida, a group of parents of the Muscatine Community School District has reached out to MCSD administrators to see what we can do to help make our schools safer. Muscatine is not exempt from this sort of tragedy happening here. I hope each and every one of you can find a way to contribute what you can and that many of our local businesses can find a way to contribute in protecting our most precious assets. This touches almost all of us in some way or another. I think of the parents who are now standing over their child's grave - their lives forever changed...and I can't help but wonder had something like these intruder locks been in place if things would be different.
Sadly we can't bring back the children whose lives were snatched by evil - but we can do what we can to prevent it from happening to our children.
The Muscatine Police and Fire Department has recommended to district officials the use of intruder locks on every classroom door in every building. This allows for first responders to have quick access into all classrooms should the need arise as they have a master key that fits the intruder locks. The district has already begun the process of outfitting classrooms with intruder locks; however, with $350 per lock per door, this is a big undertaking and a constraint on the capital projects budget.
Our goal is to raise $87,000 which would purchase approximately 250 classroom doors.
Any amount will help our school district do what it can to keep our children safe.  Thank you for your contribution.
