Empower Youth through Education in Bahia, Brazil

We are Stained Glass Films, a Villanova University affiliated, student-run production company seeks to mimic the ideas represented in stained glass artwork. Similar to each unique piece of stained glass, we come together with differing identities and backgrounds to develop a larger story. Inspired by our drive to promote social justice, we find the light and beauty within each story to create a larger, everlasting masterpiece. We are Stained Glass Films.

Here is a little bit about our film and initiative:
On October 6th 2023, Stained Glass Films embarked on a two-week trip to Salvador, Brazil. Located in the region of Bahía, Salvador has the largest population of African people outside of the African continent. During our time in Salvador, we gained a better understanding of the culture, history, and socially pressing issues. Through the formation of new relationships with our collaborators, we gained insight into how generations interact with one another and how that impacts the preservation of Afro-Brazilian culture in Salvador.

Your generous donations will go toward our initiatives for our collaborators, Mestre Guga, Rejane, and Dany which all focus on improving the education of children in Salvador on their African and Indigenous heritage through a book drive, access to clean water, school infrastructure, and funding for school. We learned the strength behind culture and that “Passing on culture is passing on power” and through our initiatives we have the opportunity to empower future generations of Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous people.

If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider otherwise supporting our documentary by forwarding this link to those who may be interested in our project and following our Instagram @stainedglassfilmsvu to view our collaborators touching stories.
