Please Help Us Adopt From Zambia, Southern Africa.

Hello Friends!

My name is Mutale Bingley, and I am the Paternal Aunt of the two young girls shown in the photograph. These children are from Lusaka, Zambia, which is in Southern Africa. Their Mother died four years ago, after suffering a long illness. Since their Mother died, the girls have tried to cope with their grief as best they can. The older sister has taken on the role of a surrogate mother, and the little sister does not do anything without checking in with Bis Sis, first. All in All, they do the best they can with what they have- each other. Their hardships are many. Food is often scarce and life is hard. These kids lack a lot of basic necessities.

While my brother, their father, is still living; he has been unemployed for several years and is unable to provide for his children. Due to the dire nature of their circumstances, my brother recently asked my husband and I, to adopt his two daughters. By recently, I mean 2018. For years I’ve been pushing this idea out of my mind, because of the worry associated with the often cumbersome and expensive nature of International Adoption. I’m not sure if I imagined that the task that God had laid before us, would suddenly disappear; because here we are.

This is not a decision we took lightly. All we know now is that we stand with our hands outstretched and hearts wide open, ready to do our very best for these girls.

And so the journey begins! As you'd imagine, this is a HUGE undertaking! The international adoption process is long and expensive. It is also, strictly regulated by the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption. Known more commonly as the Hague Convention, this international treaty was enacted into U.S. law in 2008.

The fees related to international adoption, fit into three overarching areas:

1. Agency fees (e.g., screening, attorneys, etc.)
2. In-country fees (e.g., court costs, attorney fees, and medical checkups in the child’s birth country; much of these in-country fees are completely out of an adoptive family’s or an agency’s control.
3. Out-of-pocket expenses (e.g., air travel, hotel accommodations, passport and visa fees).

We have estimated the cost of the adoption process at around or above $80,000.00. As you'd imagine, these types of savings take years to accumulate. We have reserved $20,000 for this process and are seeking your support in bridging the gap. We are also crowdfunding on Adopt Together. Between the two sites, we are trying to raise a total of $60,000.00.

We will be working with an International Adoption Service called St. Nicks Kids in Marietta, GA. St. Nick's Kids Inc. is a licensed child-placing agency by the State of Georgia, IRS Granted Non-Profit 501(c)(3), and is also an accredited agency by Intercountry Adoption Accrediting and Monitoring Entity, IAAME for incoming and Outgoing adoptions. Also, the country of Zambia has granted St. Nick's Kids, authorization to work in Zambia.

In my brother's words, "The girls need a mother," and I will be honored to assume this important role in their lives. My family would like to give these girls a secure and loving home. We love them and want to pave a way for them to have a good future. Please help us meet our goal of raising $60,000.00 by donating and sharing this link with your friends and family.

Know that we are eternally grateful for your support. We do not take your generosity lightly! Your kindness has a tremendous impact on the outcome of this story.

Much Love,
Mutale
