Insulin for Jade
I am raising funds for Jade, a 9 year old girl who lives in a small town in Namibia. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was just 18 months old.
Jade needs daily insulin injections to keep her blood sugar controlled and therefore to keep her alive. Unfortunately, government health services in Namibia are poor and often insulin is not available for months at a time at public health clinics. We would therefore like to keep her on privately funded monthly insulin prescription so that she is able to get her insulin continuously.
Jade's Mom works as a domestic worker and her salary is only N$1000 per month (£54 per month) and her Dad gets about the same salary monthly as a gardener.
Privately funded insulin (as well as needles and blood sugar test strips) would cost approximately N$1500-2000 per month (£80-100). The funds raised with this campaign would be kept in an account at her pharmacy and be used only for her insulin and diabetes-related necessities. A total of £1000 raised converted to Namibian dollars would fund Jade's insulin for 9-12 months! This would considerable ease the burden on her parents who are worried daily about the health of their daughter.
My aim is to raise these funds within the next 3 months. Please help me to help this family - thank you!
