Instruments for the Environment Mana Music Hawaii

As we receive funds from other sources such as PayPal and Venmo, the goal amount ($28,000) will be adjusted accordingly!

Art and Music is often thought of as our universal language that reaches our heart, our soul, and elevates our sense of all that is good and gives us the strength to persevere through hardship. Especially during this turbulent time, it can speak toward bringing all of us together not only for our collective healing but to also to share in a common cause for the benefit of all humanity.  We are asking for donations to help us help our environment and community through the expression of art and music.

What is Instruments for the Environment?
Instruments for the Environment is a collaboration between cellist Joshua Nakazawa/Mana Music Hawaii and artist/luthier Atelier Tim K. Duerinck.  With the help of this fundraiser our goals are to:

·  Create a family of natural fiber* instruments that are artistically rendered to an environmental theme. The family will include 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello and 1 ukulele. These instruments as playable art, serve as a symbol of giving back to the environment. 

·  Use these instruments in ongoing musical performances/venues specifically to raise awareness and promote environmental restoration for many years to come.

·  Inspire and encourage listeners, through the expression of art and music, to pitch in together to help mend our environment and bring our community closer together.

Who will benefit from your contributions?
Proceeds earned playing with these instruments will benefit:

·  Organizations dedicated to environmental restoration.  In addition to receiving a portion of the earned proceeds, these organization may also receive additional donations from concerned individuals.

·  Musicians and Artists in need of work who will perform using the instruments for the environment.

·  The community at large who will share in a wonderful musical and giving experience from talented musicians using these special instruments at a multitude of different venues.

About Us
Mana Music Hawaii was founded by cellist Joshua Akira Nakazawa, and is a collection of the most talented musicians in Hawaii.  Mana Music is a supporter of culture, education, and the environment in Hawaii and loves collaborating with others who share similar interests in expression through music.

Tim K. Duerinck is the founder of Atelier Tim K. Duerinck.  He is a talented luthier and artist who is pushing the boundaries of instrument making using natural fibers and is engaged in the investigation of acoustical properties of instruments.  Instruments for the Environment will be the world’s first quartet of instruments made using these materials and specifically rendered for an environmental cause.
