Installation of a secure external Defibrillator

We are a not- for- profit charity and our Trustees wish for Beggarwood Community Centre and Cafe in the Park to be a welcoming social space, with a community cafe, for visitors from either end of the age spectrum.

Cafe in the Park serves quality coffee, cake and offers dedicated sessions to retired people and families in the community, extending discounts, companionship and superb views over Beggarwood Park.

Beggarwood Park is a magnet for families, cyclists and joggers and we are aware that the nearest defibrillator, may be too far away to have an impact.

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable life saving device that can give a casualty's heart an electric shock, when it has stopped beating normally in a sudden cardiac arrest.

A defibrillator works by checking the casualty's heart rhythm once the defibrillator pads are placed on their chest and giving them a shock if needed.

Defibrillators can be used on adults or children over one year old.

By using a defibrillator before an ambulance arrives, you can significantly increase someone's chance of survival.

We aim to raise funds to install an AED in a secure unit, on an external wall at Beggarwood community Centre/ Cafe in the Park, so it is accessible to our entire community. Please support this vital fundraising scheme and help us to make a difference and save a life.
