Hi everyone, made a fundraiser on behalf of my close relative and this is his message: ‘I am urgently asking for your help to raise £7,200 within the next 14 days to cover a sudden legal claim tied to a deeply traumatic event that was entirely out of my control.

In January 2024, I was working as a chauffeur, driving two teenagers to an event. I didn't know them; I was simply doing my job. On the way to drop them off, an unknown vehicle began following us. The passengers realized we were being chased and panicked, telling me to drive faster.

The situation quickly escalated into a nightmare. The people in the vehicle behind us were armed and fired a gun, with a bullet hitting the back of my car. In the sheer panic, adrenaline, and terror of being shot at, I lost control of my vehicle and crashed into a nearby property.

Tragically, the attackers caught up to us, found one of the teenagers in my car, and stabbed him four times. By a miracle, he survived, and I was physically unharmed. The police arrived immediately, secured the scene, and supported me through the shock. I gave them a full witness statement and completely cooperated, explaining exactly what happened. My insurance was also contacted right away.

I thought this horrific chapter was closed. However, now, over two years later in March 2026, I have suddenly received a claim for £7,200 for the property damage caused during the crash, with a strict 14-day deadline to pay.

Despite the fact that I was fleeing for my life from an armed attacker, my insurance company has refused to cover the damages, stating I am liable. I have reached out to the police department that handled the case, and they have advised me to contact Citizens Advice, which I am doing, but the 14-day clock is ticking.

I am currently unemployed and simply do not have the funds to pay this massive sum. I am caught in an impossible situation, being penalized for a crash that only happened because I was trying to escape an active shooting.
