In memory of Maggie Zavala

Hello Friends and Family,
It is with great sadness that I am reaching out to you all. Today, one of my best friends, coworkers, and "Compadre" lost his daughter Maggie.
Maggie was an amazing individual, child, friend, student, and daughter. To all who had the pleasure of meeting her you would know how special she was. Maggie was well beyond her years and one of the smartest teenagers I ever met. She was a "squared away" straight A student and aspired to become an officer at West Point. She wanted to make her dad proud by following in his military footsteps. We all knew she would not only follow in his footsteps but surpass most in her journey serving our country.
The Zavala's are the most welcoming families I have ever had the pleasure of becoming not only friends with, but being welcomed into their family. We had the privilege of baptizing his youngest son and have been part of their family ever since. Bach and Franny are the most loving couple you will ever meet. They are always the first to open their house and host any and every event, to make sure we all continue to grow from friends into family. They would never hesitate to help anyone in need, regardless of what the situation entailed.
Bach Zavala is actively serving in our military and also is also serving our community as an Officer of the Long Beach Police Department. Bach is selfless and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who was in need of it.
I write this message with a heavy heart and know that The Zavala's would never ask anyone for help. No parent should ever have to make funeral arrangements for their own child. The Zavala family is already dealing with so much, they should not need to add financial hardship to this tragedy.
