In memory of Louise
Donation protected
I and some of my friends, Joe Gillen, Padraig Gillen, Diarmaid McPhillips, Conor Kerr, Ciarán McAuley, Andrew McMorrow, Ciaron Flannery ,Michael Sweeney and Sean Megahey have decided to enter two relay teams into this year’s Belfast City Marathon in memory of my Mummy Louise who sadly passed away last July at the age of 48.
We have decided to run this marathon to both raise funds and to raise awareness for organ donation. My mummy was lucky enough to have had a heart/lung transplant over ten years ago that at the time saved her life and gave her what she always wanted, the opportunity to see my Brother Michael and I grow up (which I doubt will ever happen) and in the end graduate from university
The Northern Ireland Transplant Association has three primary objectives; increasing organ donation through promoting the organ donor register, supporting those affected by organ transplantation emotionally and to raise funds to offer practical support to affected families; any donations made to any of the runners will be presented to this charity along with the Renal department housed within the Belfast City hospital for the world class care they proved to my Mum over her final two years with us
For those who knew my mum, knew her has a brave selfless individual that was never daunted by what her medical conditions presented her with and her selfless nature often seen her worry about missing someone’s birthday rather than an impending stay in hospital or medical procedure, that’s just how she was. Her attitude baffled many, I included and the humour in which she dealt with many a situation leaves a lasting smile on our faces, to raise some money and awareness in her memory is an honour.
I would ask you to make a donation however small our target is a very achievable £1000 between us.
