In Lieu of Lattes - HSUS for Harvey

Tax deductible

After a day of receiving the most kind, encouraging texts and calls from my friends and family saying that they were inspired by my post (I cannot even believe so many of you read it!), and then  receiving a "venmo" payment from my sister which stated "to saving the pets in lieu of lattes," you all have inspired ME to do more.  I am creating this donation site to track my own progress during the month of September as promised in my last post and provide a platform for people to donate to with me, if desired.

I read a news article that said "I’ve seen more people walking down the street with their dogs and cats than with their possessions."   Such a simple statement, but what a huge message.  "Things" don't matter.  Love, kindness, and compassion for others is all that's left in the end and that's what animals represent to me.  I chose the Humane Society of the United States because of the amazing work they have already done in Texas, and what they plan to accomplish in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.  Additionally, my family is heavily involved with the efforts of the Lynchburg, Virginia Humane Society and this organization has always been close to my heart.   All donations through this site are linked directly to the HSUS EIN.

If you missed my last post, I am pasting it below.

Because I have spent the last 3 days sobbing to Kyle & my parents over the devastation caused by #HurricaneHarvey, I need to DO something instead of "wishing" I could help. The point of this post is to inspire kindness in any capacity. I am fortunate enough to have my health that allows me to do something I love and earn a secondary income. My Neighborhood Barre paychecks always go toward what I want because I already have more than I need. For the month of September, I will be donating my #NB income to various organizations rescuing animals affected by the storm, as it is what I am most passionate about. I encourage everyone to find something they WANT that is not self-serving, and use September to make whatever it is happen. There is so much we can do: pray, send positive vibes, skip your daily latte to send $10 to the Red Cross, or simply pay it forward in hopes that your same kindness finds it way to the victims of Hurricane Harvey or anyone that may need it. Take care of each other and remember there are so many things that make America great.

Thank you for your time and support!

Love,
Clair
