Top surgery T.Takai

Hi everyone, i hope you are all well. Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Tyla, I am a 26year old transgender male. I have been seeing the gender identity clinic since I was 16 and was on testosterone for a year when I reached 18. I decide to come off testosterone in the hope I could store my eggs with the fertility clinic. At that time it wasn’t available at my CCG. I decided to give myself some time and put things on hold to save for it. Egg storage privately can cost anything between £2,500-£4,500.

At 19 I had moved into my own place and saving was harder than expected. Years had passed while I continued to try and seek help from the NHS. It has been a rough ride believe me I had mixed emotions constantly but I always knew I wanted to do egg preservation before going ahead with the rest of my transition.

Last year October I had good news!! I had been accepted to get egg storage through the NHS. I have been to the hospital numerous times now to prepare myself for treatment for egg preservation. Since the COVID-19 this was once again put on hold. I spoke with my doctor on the 2nd July 2020 and they said I’m ready to start as soon as their treatments commence.

I already know from experience to not put timeframes on things, although I decided to start this fund for my chest surgery what would be the next step. It will be costing a minimum £7,500, therefore I am doing all I can now to raise and save the funds for it now. I would really like things to run as smoothly as possible and I am dreading having another long wait of years and years. 

Being transgender and not quite fully transitioned is hard to cope with but I stay positive knowing “it will all be over one day” ...

I have created this fund to hopefully help raise funds for my top surgery with a private clinic. All funds raised will be for my transition. It costs roughly £7,500-£10,000 with a private clinic. If this fundraising goes well, I will be hoping to donate to others in aid to help with the initial consultations.

I understand this year has been stressful for everyone. I have suffered greatly due to the closure of clinics and services. Many other transgender people are suffering the same way. Our appointments have been pushed back almost a year. We are all currently facing the uncertainty of being able to access funds from the NHS and them delaying surgery due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The stress the NHS are currently facing too has made me decide and try and do this private. With your help hopefully I can!
