<div>Le 17 septembre dernier, le verdict est tombé : un cancer rare du rein. Pas du genre timide.
</div>
<div>Les astres se sont alignés… mais à l’envers.
</div>
<div>Moi, c’est Dany Létourneau, 42 ans, père de deux enfants de 5 et 6 ans. Infirmier aux urgences depuis seize ans. J’ai passé ma carrière à aider des gens dans les pires moments de leur vie, jusqu’à ce que la vie décide de frapper très fort à ma porte.

<div>L’effet d’une bombe.
</div>
<div>Un cancer rare du rein, stade IV.
</div>
<div>Des métastases aux os et aux poumons.
</div>
<div>Un pronostic sombre.
</div>
<div>Le diagnostic : un carcinome des canaux collecteurs, un cancer agressif, rare et souvent découvert trop tard. Le genre de cancer qu’on retrouve dans les manuels médicaux sous l’onglet « cas exceptionnels ».
</div>
<div>Les spécialistes se sont consultés. Des traitements, du poison, des radiations — tout a été essayé. La torture des dernières semaines n’aura servi à rien.
</div>
<div>J’ai maintenant des métastases dans tout le corps et des douleurs indescriptibles.
</div>
<div>Cinq mois après mon diagnostic, la science ne peut plus me sauver.
</div>
<div>Dans ma petite chambre d’hôpital, les mots suivants ont été prononcés :
</div>
<div>« Il vous reste quelques mois à vivre, Monsieur Létourneau. »
</div>
<div>Les soins palliatifs.
</div>
<div>Aujourd’hui, c’est à mon tour de demander de l’aide.
</div>
<div>Je lance ce GoFundMe pour m’aider à tenir le coup en fin de vie.

<div>Mais surtout, je le fais pour Camille, mon amoureuse depuis dix-sept ans. Solide. Aimante. Inébranlable.

<div>C’est elle qui encaisse la majorité des coups : les rendez-vous à l’hôpital, les nuits blanches, la paperasse, les enfants, la fatigue, les repas, l’organisation du quotidien, l’administration des médicaments, pendant que je faiblis.

<div>Cette levée de fonds solidaire, ce n’est pas seulement pour moi.
</div>
<div>C’est pour la protéger.
</div>
<div>Pour qu’elle n’ait pas à tout porter seule pendant que nous traversons cette tempête.
</div>
<div>L’argent amassé servira à compenser la perte de salaire de Camille et la mienne, à couvrir les frais de médicaments non remboursés par notre assurance, ainsi que les services de psychologues — aussi longtemps que nous quatre en aurons besoin. Nous avons une modeste maison des années 80, et la stabilité des enfants et de mon amoureuse dans les années à venir est ma plus grande préoccupation. Il nous permettra aussi d’avoir un peu d’aide à la maison et des repas préparés, afin de garder l’énergie là où elle compte vraiment.

<div>Chaque don, petit ou grand, nous aidera à faire face aux dépenses imprévues et, surtout, à offrir à nos enfants une certaine stabilité, loin du stress financier.

<div>On September 17th, the verdict came down: a rare form of kidney cancer. Not the shy kind. The stars aligned… but in reverse.

<div>My name is Dany Létourneau. I’m 42 years old, a father of two children aged 5 and 6. I’ve worked as an emergency room nurse for sixteen years. I’ve spent my career helping people through the worst moments of their lives — until life knocked very hard on my own door.

<div>Specialists consulted one another. Treatments, chemotherapy, radiation — everything was tried. The torture of the past weeks has changed nothing.

<div>I now have metastases throughout my body and indescribable pain.
</div>
<div>Five months after my diagnosis, science can no longer save me.
</div>
<div>In my small hospital room, these words were spoken: “You have a few months left to live, Mr. Létourneau.”
</div>
<div>Palliative care.
</div>
<div>Today, it’s my turn to ask for help.
</div>
<div>I’m starting this GoFundMe to help me get through the end of my life.

<div>But more importantly, I’m doing this for Camille — my partner of seventeen years. Strong. Loving. Unshakeable.

<div>She carries most of the weight: hospital appointments, sleepless nights, paperwork, the children, the exhaustion, meals, managing the household, organizing everything, administering medications — while I grow weaker.
</div>
<div>This fundraiser is not only for me.
</div>
<div>It’s to protect her.
</div>
<div>So she doesn’t have to carry everything alone while we walk through this storm.

<div>The funds raised will help compensate for the loss of both Camille’s income and mine, cover medications not reimbursed by insurance, and pay for psychological support — for as long as the four of us need it.

<div>We live in a modest 1980s home, and the long-term stability of my children and my partner is my greatest concern. This support will also allow us to get help at home and prepared meals, so we can keep our energy where it truly matters.
