Infant with Brain Bleed, Broken Bone after Assault

Hi, my name is Amy. I am starting this GoFundMe page for my daughter Lillith, and her infant son Lunix.

My 5-month old grandson is in the hospital after being abused by Lillith's roommate in Manhattan Kansas. Above is a picture of Lunix in a Kansas City hospital crib, suffering multiple brain bleeds, a broken collar bone, and a possible neck injury, damage consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome.

On the morning of July 15th in Manhattan Kansas, 911 was called when Lillith's roommate reported that baby Lunix was unconscious and unresponsive. The mother, Lillith, was at work and summoned immediately as the baby was Life-Flighted to Kansas City with suspected head and neck trauma and at least one broken bone. An MRI and CT scans revealed that little Lunix was suffering from a brain hemorrhage, consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome. Further tests confirmed the broken collarbone.

The roommate, 20 year old Gerald William Hartman III was arrested by Riley County police, and is being held on $100,000 bond for the charges of Abuse of a Child and Aggravated Battery. What Gerald has done to my grandson is unthinkable and absolutely devastating to us. I love my grandson more than I can convey in words. Little Lunix is broken and battered. He cannot hold down formula as he can't stop vomiting. My heart is breaking.

My daughter Lillith moved to Kansas to have a fresh start, leaving behind a bad marriage. Now a single mom, my daughter is hard working, dedicated, and loving. She quickly found a great job caring for disabled senior citizens and is happy to be living near her sister. This move a little over a month ago to a new life, new job, new surroundings, and new friends was supposed to be liberating, and instead has become devastating. My daughter has no medical insurance, no car and will have to move now since the place where they were renting a room is in Gerald's name.

I am reaching out to you from Colorado to put a name to the beautiful, innocent, joyful baby who now lays suffering in a hospital bed. He has a name and he is loved. He doesn't deserve this.

I am hoping this GoFundMe page will help with the mountains of medical bills, aftercare for Lunix, therapy for Lillith, moving expenses and with any luck a car so Lillith will be able to get Lunix to the many doctor and physical therapy appointments he will require.
