<div>IndoorCO2map.com is an open-source and open-data project measuring CO2-levels of public buildings and public transport. CO2-levels correlate with the amount of exhaled air and therefore provide useful information about the risks of being infected with airborne diseases. High CO2-levels can also cause nausea, headaches and reduce performance.

<div>Everyone who has a supported portable CO2-Sensor can contribute by using the iPhone or Android App. Around 20000 Measurements have been taken already during the still ongoing public test stage, resulting in the largest publicly available dataset of this kind already. The Goal of this project is to raise awareness about the importance of Indoor Air Quality, and provide an overview of the current situation, which for example shows that doctors offices are often very badly ventilated, while libraries mostly have low CO2-levels.

<div><a href="https://IndoorCO2map.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">IndoorCO2map</a> is being developed by me (Aurel Wünsch) in my free time and I try to keep the costs of it running as low as possible. Nonetheless there are still some regular costs for server hosting and a large expense in 2025 has been the attendence of the <em>Workplace and Indoor Aerosols Conference </em>in Italy in which I presented the project.

<div>The project is at no risk of being stopped without this funding, and neither was the attendance at the conference, but with your support, it will be possible to improve the project at a faster pace and increase the impact it has.

<div>Currently the costs are mostly:

<div>$100 yearly for the apple developer program (required to publich Apps)

<div>~700€ fee for the Workplace and Indoor Aerosols Conference in Italy where I'll hold an oral presentation about the Indoorco2map

<div>IndoorCO2map.com ist ein Open-Source- und Open-Data-Projekt zur Messung der CO₂-Werte in öffentlichen Gebäuden und im öffentlichen Nahverkehr. CO₂-Werte korrelieren mit der Menge an ausgeatmeter Luft und liefern daher wertvolle Informationen über das Risiko, sich mit luftübertragenen Krankheiten zu infizieren. Hohe CO₂-Werte können zudem Übelkeit, Kopfschmerzen und eine reduzierte Leistungsfähigkeit verursachen.

<div>Jeder, der einen unterstützten tragbaren CO₂-Sensor besitzt, kann mitmachen, indem er die iPhone- oder Android-App nutzt. Während der noch laufenden öffentlichen Testphase wurden bereits rund 20.000 Messungen durchgeführt, was bereits jetzt zum größten öffentlich verfügbaren Datensatz dieser Art geführt hat. Ziel dieses Projekts ist es, das Bewusstsein für die Bedeutung der Innenraumluftqualität zu schärfen und einen Überblick über die aktuelle Situation zu geben. Beispielsweise zeigt sich, dass Arztpraxen oft sehr schlecht belüftet sind, während Bibliotheken meist niedrige CO₂-Werte aufweisen.
