Help the Lakota people of Pine Ridge Reservation

Hi. My name is Deana Khoshaba and I am starting a Go Fund Me for the Indigenous People at Pine Ridge Reservation.

Friends,

I’ve learned a lot about the Lakota Sioux tribe of South Dakota, who live on Pine Ridge Reservation. They’re starving and freezing right now. It is not just the winter cold and malnutrition that are causing immense struggles and death on the Rez. Without water, electricity, and with inadequate and over-crowded shack homes, the suffering remains a mainstay through the year.

Permit me to share a little about the Pine Ridge Reservation:

Pine Ridge is the eighth-largest reservation in the United States and it is the poorest. In fact, it is the poorest county across all of the U.S., far surpassing the poverty in Appalachia, as well as in America’s urban ghettos.

There is no infrastructure or industry at Pine Ridge, and little possibility. There are no handmade multi-colored, beaded necklaces, or turquoise and silver treasures lining the roads leading to other tribes and reservations. Without exaggeration, there is nothing at Pine Ridge, except for Indigenous prisoners.

The population of Pine Ridge suffer health conditions, including high mortality rates, depression, alcoholism, drug abuse, malnutrition, teenage suicide, and diabetes, among others.”

The average age of death on the Rez is between 50-55. Let this sink in, please.

It is an unending horror for the Indigenous people of Pine Ridge. Your support is desperately needed.
