CARING FOR THOSE IN NEED

Baruch Kakara and his family live in the Andra Pradesh region of SE India. They are a Noahide/Ger family living in the midst of a mostly Hindu culture, with some Christians and Muslims, as well. For many years he and his parents, Yedidyah and Suvarna, have faithfully cared for widows and orphans in their city. Since they do not have personal transportation, Baruch would go with his mom, either by walking or by bus, to a hotel that cooks simple meals they can buy, and then carry them to those in need. Sometimes they can take the bus, but most times they carry them about 4 miles total. The process is time consuming and is an expense they don't mind expending, since it is a mitzvah/command of HaShem to take care of these precious souls.

Also, his father, Yedidyah, is a leader of the community that is wanting to learn the will of HaShem in Torah and how to serve Him, especially in an idolatrous environment. He visits, teaches, counsels, visits the sick.  They're like modern-day Abrahams and Sarahs.

Recently, Baruch has had the opportunity to go to school, which is in another city several hours away from home. He expressed his concern about his mom being able to continue caring for the widows and orphans since it is more difficult to accomplish this in his absence. "A scooter would be very helpful for her to be able to pickup and carry the meals in an inexpensive & timely manner."  

She would be able to use funds normally used for the bus to get the fuel. It would also be a very helpful tool for his father to serve their community.

[P.S. I do have to say that when he told me a brand new scooter that can be outfitted to carry the food would only cost a little over $1,000, it was by our standards here in the U.S., it just so cheap!  And so doable for such a good cause.]
