Mars Hill Community Center
Community Caring and Sharing Believes no one in our communities should go hungry, especially our children and seniors.
Founded 30 years ago by Maggie Phipps and a small group of caring and dedicated housewives that volunteered their time, Community Caring and Sharing started small, providing food and clothing assistance to just a few families in the Indianapolis community of Mars Hill.
For many years in the beginning Community Caring and Sharing opereated from small facilities such as, church basements, rental storage units, even a small converted residence. In Spring 2000, a caring Indianapolis business man, Mr. Eldon Palmer, generously donated a former school building in the Mars Hill, Indianapolis Area, where they could expand the base of operations to carry out the mission.
After a few hard years of initial renovation Community Caring and Sharing was able to officially use its new operations/food pantry facility in late 2002. Before long they where able to expand adding several educational programs and becoming a center for the community and local improvement
Our mission is to reach out and help those in need with community servces and educational programs by partnering with local goverment agencies, businesses and churches along with community members and leaders
We work closely w th other agencies, businesses, schools, civic groups, Clubs and churches in the Mars Hill area to create a user-friendly, private, and effective referral system. If we cannot directly service a client with our programs, we will quickly and carefully refer them to an appropriate external resource.
We provide efficient and effective community services and programs and make a difference promoting healthy lifestyles and positive changes in our local communities through education. We help families and individuals become more self-sufficient and obtain better paying jobs.
