Hi, my name is Sam Whitaker. I am 15 years old and from Denver, Colorado. My family and I recently moved to Hyderabad, India. This Christmas we collected food and and clothing for a local orphanage called the Friends Foundation. The Friends Foundation orphanage has 46 children ranging in age from 8 to 17 years old. We spent a day with the kids playing games, soccer, cricket, singing and dancing.
While I visited with, Joshua, the head of the orphanage he explained to me how they needed to raise money for their kids to attend private school. Private school in India allows the kids to have a chance to be successful in life and is far superior to public education.
To put all 46 children through private school this next year will cost 859,000 rupees (roughly $13,400). They have other donors and are currently the balance required to next year of education is 381,900 rupees (about $5,967).
India is a challenging place to live for an Orphan, but the Friends Foundation is helping these children to have a chance, but education is the key. I am organizing this campaign and asking for your support now to help these 46 kids to have a chance. If you don't have the funds to donate please support by sharing with your friends.
My Promise
I will provide proof of money transfer to school as updates to the campaign so that you know that every dollar donated goes to the school. I will also be uploading a spreadsheet with a detailed accounting of the students, their tuition and test fees, and the residual balance needed to fund their next year of school. Lastly, I have spoken to Joshua, the head of the school, and we will be posting updates and thank you notes to the donors from the kids.
