Hello, my name is Alex, and today I’m reaching out to share the story of an extraordinary woman who deserves the compassion she gives to others.

This year has been incredibly difficult for my family—both my mum and I have been battling cancer. Throughout our treatments at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff, we’ve had the privilege of meeting some remarkable people. One of them is Lorie, a nurse whose kindness and compassion have touched so many lives, including ours.

Lorie doesn’t just provide care; she goes above and beyond. She listens deeply to her patients’ struggles, donates wigs to those in need, and offers unwavering support. But behind her selfless nature lies a heartbreaking personal struggle.

Lorrie’s 25-year-old son Jasper, who lives in the Philippines, is also fighting cancer. His treatment has not been successful so far, and the situation has recently worsened, with the cancer spreading beyond his lungs.

What makes this even more devastating is that Lorie cannot be with her son during his most difficult moments. She works tirelessly here in the UK to fund his treatment, raises money in her limited spare time, and supports him from thousands of miles away via phone calls.

We believe that someone who gives so much of herself deserves a chance to receive the same compassion in return. That’s why we’re launching this campaign to raise £100,000. This will allow Jasper to come to the UK, receive the specialized treatment he urgently needs, and, most importantly, be with his mum.

The healthcare system in the Philippines is incredibly challenging, with fewer specialists and patients often having to source medications themselves. Lorie and her son deserve better.
