Ethan's Journey

Two years ago, while working for the Florida Panthers Hockey Team, I was extremely blessed when Ethan, a beautiful 9 year old boy with an infectious smile, entered my life. An avid sports fan who loves attending Panther games and proudly wears his Kevin Durant jersey, Ethan is unfortunately fighting a battle for his life. At age 7, Ethan was diagnosed with an anomalous coronary artery, a rare condition usually found only on autopsy. He had open heart surgery in June 2013, followed by a second surgery in November 2013, but the problems persisted as he later developed idiopathic recurrent pericarditis with concurrent pericardial and pleural effusions. His doctors have stated that Ethan's case is one of the rarest cases they have ever seen.
Ethan continues to be in and out of the hospital every 10 weeks. His doctors have tried various medical therapies, but he is unfortunately still suffering.On December 4th, 2014, his doctors in Florida said that Ethan would be better served by pediatric experts at the Boston Children's Hospital, where unfortunately, extreme costs are hindering Ethan from receiving proper care. As of January 14th, his heart is failing and doctors are researching for his case in particular to find a solution. We are praying that they will find a way to ensure he sees his next birthday.
On March 15, 2015, I am running the NYC Half Marathon in Ethan's name to help raise money to save his life; Ethan needs a miracle. Every donation truly makes a difference, and I sincerely appreciate everyone's help to keep this beautiful boy smiling. Your contributions will help me reach my goal of raising $20,000 to help save Ethan's life.
