Attitude Is Everything...

This is a Picture of Niko, my son's best friend and one of the finest young men you'll ever find. The other picture is of Niko's car, the only truly dependable car he's ever owned. Yesterday, an elderly gentleman who suffers from Alzheimer's and dementia, grabbed the keys off the counter, and when his family thought he was napping on the couch, he went out for a drive. After totaling Niko's car he continued on to run a stoplight, and right before he turned into speeding traffic, we were successful in getting him to pull over and stop. Although he sustained a head wound, everyone was incredibly relieved that no one was injured more severely.

The reason why I am posting this campaign is not only because this young man's car was destroyed, it's because the attitude that he had right after the accident was something that all of can learn from and one that, in my opinion, deserves our most enthusiastic support. Instead of becoming angry and cursing, or totally despondent at losing his means of transportation to college and his job, he demonstrated a maturity that, honestly, I'm not even sure I have, and I am more than twice his age.  As we stood there watching the tow truck load his PLPD insured car onto the bed, his concern was for the elderly gentleman and how glad he was that others were not injured or worse. He ended his post to Facebook, announcing the death of his car with this..."As for me... Looks like it's the city bus or walking for a while. Here's an epic snapchat for ya"

This young man is a quality individual who works the night shift and goes to college during the day and he is the kind of person that would be an asset to any organization. He's mature beyond his years, makes no excuses and faces the challenges that come in life by saying "everything happens for a reason". This doesn't mean that he's not hurt by his circumstances, he just handles them with grace.

Because Michigan is a "no fault" state, we're not certain that how much help will be forthcoming and Niko doesn't hold the gentleman's family at fault for things they could not help. Please join me in supporting this young man by helping him get back into a decent car, and with his tow and storage expenses. Any funds that are raised above and beyond our goal will be used to toward his college degree, and please, no amount is too small. Trust me, it will be some of the best money you'll ever spend.

Thank You!
