In Support of Juwan Barksdale and Family

On behalf of the Barksdale family, we have come together to show our love and support for Juwan Deon Barksdale. A young man with a kind heart and a sweet spirit. A young man that never met a stranger and whose life was taken senselessly and suddenly.      Juwan was originally from Atlanta, Georgia.  He was a loving son, brother, and friend.  He has a smile that would brighten anyone’s day and lighten up any room.

As the results of a heinous shooting, Juwan was taken from us at the tender age of 22,  just a month shy of his 23rd birthday. His family’s lives will never be the same. His loss is felt long and wide in his community. To watch him grow and mature over the last 20 years, my heart aches. So many dreams and aspirations that will never be filled. Another young black man has become a victim of gun violence.

From a High School graduate with Honors to receiving an acceptance letter to Morehouse, Juwan has always strived to be great. He was both intelligent and a “go – getter”. He loved to travel and good southern food – Granny’s cooking.  Juwan was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and the way he was self-taught on day trading and everything Stocks and Bonds.  Juwan super big brother to his four younger siblings, who are all lost without him.

There are plenty of expenses associated with an unexpected death and a pointless murder. The family is very humble and prideful, but with their permission we have decided to start this fund. The funds will assist with any expenses they have or will incur during these times.  Additionally, if we meet the goal, the family would like to establish a one-time scholarship fund for a Georgia High School senior.

A parent should never have to bury their child. They will never be able to fill in the gap of his love and presence. We ask for continued prayers to comfort and strengthen his family during these unimaginable times. No amount is too small, and all donations are appreciated.

Thank you for listening to our story. God Bless.
