In Soane's memory

Donation protected
Sunday morning, we lost our dear son/brother/grandson/nephew, Soa  (Soane) Mausia in a sensless act of violence in front of his home,   gunned down in front of his family.  It was a horrific murder, and as we morn and try to make sense of this terrible event, so many people are asking what they can do to help.  IF you’re unable to help financially, would you please just do something for someone in his memory. Pay it forward… a random act of kindness, a hug or a smile at a stranger.  Soa would look down on that and smile.   IF you’re at all hesitant to give here, and you feel so inclined, please text me at [phone redacted] and just mention Soane and I will give you my address for any donations.  We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to read this, and to do whatever you find in your heart to do in Soa’s name. God Bless and Thank you !

Anytime anybody broke out a camera, his picture will show him with what looks like and ‘OK’ sign,  and wonder what that hand signal is, it’s certainly NOT a gang sign, it is (look closely) an ‘8’.  When they boys were small they lived on 88th, and the kids called them the 88th boys…so they adopted this hand signal to signify the 3 Mausia boys.  Soa had a heart of gold, always giving… he saved recyclables for the homeless guy that perused his neighborhood, and when a new kid came to his school, he took them under his wing and wanted to make sure they felt included and special. He would dig through the fridge for leftovers or grab armfuls of water bottles for the guy with the cart.

He was wise beyond his years. He had an ear for those that needed comfort. And, he always asked his Nana  “do you need anything?”  It was never about money, it was always about making people comfortable and making sure they felt good. He genuinely cared.     When he saw somebody suffering, he never criticized, he always stood up for the underdog. Although he was not the eldest, he felt like he was the man of the house.  He just graduated from Skyline High with a 4.0 GPA !!!   He was so proud (as were all of us!) of his accomplishments.  Heaven truly gained an angel and he will be so missed here on earth. So many people were touched by this wonderful man.

His Mom is really going to need some help for a while. She has medical issues of her own, and now with this horrific event, she really wants to get her other boys out of that neighborhood. She needs to move as soon as possible and can only do this with help from others, as much as she won’t ask herself, I am trying to do what I can to help her with finances so that she never has to endure this kind of pain again. And, again, please, find it in your heart to Pay It Forward, perform a Random Act of Kindness for Soa.
