<div>For 15 months and 7 days I was blessed in being this girl's father. My daughter, Zahraa, officially gained her wings on 02/18. She is an angel in every way and a beacon of light to our family, both in this world and the next. She was born with Sandhoff disease, a genetic condition that is clinically indistinguishable from Tay Sachs. The death rate with these diseases is 100% and many of these children do not live to see their second birthday. In an effort to derive as much positivity as I can from this situation, I decided to open this GoFundMe in her honor, with 100% of the proceeds directly going to the Cure Tay Sachs Foundation. I worked directly with them, and can attest that the work they do is not only noble but vital; as a physician I found it difficult to navigate the waters of clinical trials, pharmaceutical companies, etc, I cannot imagine what it would feel like for parents who do not have medical training. The Cure Tay Sachs Foundation was extremely helpful in this regard, providing a roadmap to families in a terrain that is so difficult to navigate. Proceeds will go directly in funding research so that others with these diseases may have a better outcome in the future. I ask you please consider contributing to this cause if you have the means to do so.
